Mission of the Disability Ministry Conference
The Disability Ministry Conference exists for the advancement of quality disability ministry by coming together to learn, connect, and collaborate.
Statement of Faith
We believe that the local church exists to glorify God through worshipping him, edifying his people, evangelizing, and demonstrating the love of Christ in the world. As such, we work alongside churches in order to provide the opportunity for all to worship, learn, and share the good news of the gospel.
To this end we...
Affirm the centrality of the Word of God.
Affirm the necessity of the new birth.
Affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the church
Affirm the indispensable nature of all image bearers.
Affirm the Church as a fellowship of believers in need of grace.
Affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit.
Affirm the reality of freedom in Christ.
Furthermore we acknowledge that central to our mission and identity is our belief that. . .
Jesus is the Center of Everything
1 John 5:11-12, Hebrews 12:2
We are called to love God & love Others
All are created in His image and have a place and purpose in the fellowship of believers
Psalm 139:13, Isaiah 49:1, Jeremiah 1:5, Galatians 6:10
We Will Seek Justice & Love Compassion
All members of the body are essential and fulfill God-ordered purposes
1 Corinthians 12:12-27
Change, though not always comfortable, is necessary for growth
God’s Grace allows us to emphasize shared beliefs and offer grace in points of disagreement
As a result we will...
Work to include a diversity of perspectives into all of our activities, including individuals and families affected by disability, as well as those from traditional underserved groups.
Work with local churches in order to promote unity in the body.
Work to promote the value and dignity of individuals and families impacted by disability in all we do and say.
